Deltona woman run over, killed after avoiding pickup truck on SR

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 49-year-old Deltona woman was run over by two vehicles and killed Tuesday morning on State Road 44 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal wreck happened around 6 a.m. on S.R. 44 at Ranchette Road near Samsula-Spruce Creek.

The FHP said the woman was driving a 2016 Suzuki moped east on S.R. 44 when a vehicle, possibly a white pickup truck, made a right turn from Ranchette Road, causing her to lose control.

The woman was ejected from the moped and was struck by a 2014 Honda CRV and a 2018 Nissan Titan, the FHP said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an FHP crash report.

The drivers of the Honda and Nissan were not injured and remained at the scene, the FHP said.
