BOISE, Idaho — 16-year-old Boise High School student Jadin Zurawski died Thursday after being hit by a truck in Boise. According to the Boise Police Department (BPD), the crash happened at N. 16th Street and W. Washington Street around 10:00 a.m.

Police said someone in a truck was driving south on 16th Street when they hit Zurawski, who was in the crosswalk riding a skateboard. He died at the scene from blunt force injuries, the Ada County Coroner said Friday. The manner of death was ruled an accident.

One teen witness told KTVB that a dump truck ran a red light and hit his friend, who was skateboarding at the time. KTVB observed a broken skateboard on scene of the accident. Other teens were also skating around the area at the time.

Boise High School now has a crisis team in place to help with grief counseling or any other assistance surrounding the loss of their student, principal Deborah Watts said.

"We realize that this is difficult information to process and are saddened by this loss. As a school family and community we will support one another and work through this the best way we possibly can. Please remember this family in your thoughts," Watts said in a letter to parents and faculty.

Homicide detectives and the BPD Crash Reconstructive Team are investigating the crash.

A Boise Police spokesperson said Friday that any charging decisions in relation to the driver of the truck will not be made until the investigation into the accident is complete. Detectives have completed interviews with witnesses and victim witness coordinators are conducting follow-ups.

The coroner will release the name of the victim after next of kin has been notified.

Anyone with information about the crash who has not spoken to police is asked to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
